Upside Down Values 2.17.21

Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must be the slave of everyone else. For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

(Mark 10:43–45).

We live in a world where the goal is to be popular and powerful. Jesus turned this on its head. For believers, the goal is not to be popular, it is to be useful, helpful, generous, and faithful in the way we relate to others. Earlier in Mark Jesus said many who are first will be last and the last will be first.

God does not measure us as we do. It is not about "likes," attendance figures, speaking engagements, or awards received. All these things are about exalting US. The true follower of Christ lives to exalt HIM. We are to reveal Christ by living as He did: with compassion, love, and devotion to the Lord.
