Running to Win 9.21.22

Running to Win 9.21.22

24 Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! 25 All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. 26 So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. 27 I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified." (1 Corinthians 9:24-27)

It appears to me that many believers run to finish rather than to win. We do what we feel is necessary rather than live to honor the Lord in everything. We are content with the mediocre.

The person running to win is diligent about looking for opportunities to grow. They live out their faith in everything they do . . . not just when they go to church. They look for opportunities to tell others about Christ wherever they are. Christians running well are students of the Word and seek God regularly in times of prayer.

Are you running to win or just hoping to finish the race? Live this day with purpose, understanding how we live today, will impact how we live in His presence. Let us run to win.
